I was always told by my professor back in College that the worst thing that you can ever do is not to ask when you do not know the answer. Pretending to know when you do not know what to do cause more trouble. Often times we are scared to be judged as someone who is stupid that’s why we would rather be silent. This is really scary especially if the effect and impact in your life for not asking a question is big and terrible.
This is the case for debts like credit card debts. We would rather go on pretending that we are in good financial shape rather than asking for help from financial experts. Asking for other’s opinion is helpful especially if you cannot bring food on the table anymore.
If you are heavily indebted, you must let your bank know as soon as possible. Do not keep a debt secret. If they do not know your situation they will continue to charge you with high finance charges, penalties and interests which will eventually kill you. You will always be haunted by collectors and you will have the worse credit scores.
If you are just late in payments, then you might want to consider changing cards too. Do you even know that there are so many types of cards? A basic card has less interest than a premium card.
The credit limit of each card type varies too. If you are an impulsive buyer and you are always tempted to buy everything that you find nice then you should have a lower credit limit. Uncontrollable spending is another thing that ends up to bigger trouble that’s why you should ask help from your bank to lower this down. They are just a phone call away and some banks even give in to requests filed over the internet.
